Applications
Terbium is not found in its free form in nature and occurs in minerals such as cerite, gadolinite, and monazite. It is moderately stable in air, oxidizing slowly. Terbium compounds are known for their strong fluorescence.
It is used as a dopant in solid-state materials, improving optical and electronic performance. Terbium is also an important component of Terfenol-D (Terbium–Dysprosium–Iron), widely used in electronic and magnetostrictive devices. Additionally, it serves as a crystal stabilizer in fuel cells.
