Carbon nanotube fibers offer moderate to high strength while maintaining excellent electrical conductivity and very low density. These properties allow them to be effectively incorporated into fabrics and composite materials. They are suitable for use as stand-alone or embedded sensors due to their reliable electrical performance.
Additionally, their high strength, stiffness, and superior thermal and electrical conductivity make them ideal as functional reinforcements in composite materials. They are also applied in active heating and cooling systems, electrical conductivity and EMI-shielding mechanisms such as CNT/epoxy composites, and in atmospheric anti-threat detection systems in UAVs.
