NMC Battery (Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide)
Description
NMC batteries are a type of lithium-ion battery that use lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide as the cathode material. Nickel increases energy and capacity, manganese provides structural stability, and cobalt enhances stability and discharge capacity. The NMC 811 variant features a high nickel content with lower manganese and cobalt levels, resulting in very high energy density. NMC batteries are key storage materials in lithium-ion battery technology.
Applications
NMC batteries are ideal for power tools, electric vehicles (including electric power trains and e-bikes) due to their high energy density and capacity. They are also widely used in smartphones, laptops, and solar energy storage systems.
