Chemical Properties:
Cobalt Oxide nanoparticles are a mixed valence compound containing Co(II) and Co(III). They are soluble in nitric acid and readily absorb moisture without forming water compounds. When heated above 1200 °C, Co3O4 decomposes into sub-cobalt oxides.
Applications:
Cobalt Oxide nanoparticles are used in electronics, ceramics, and catalysis. They serve as electrode materials in lithium-ion batteries and other electrochemical cells. They are applied in semiconductors, temperature and gas sensors, and electronic ceramics. In solar energy, Co3O4 nanoparticles function as solar absorbers. They are also used as colorants and pigments in glass and porcelain. In catalysis, they act as oxidants, catalysts for organic synthesis, and catalyst carriers in the chemical industry.
