Nitinol Shape Memory Alloy Sheet
Thickness: 1 mm | Activation Temperature (Af): 50–55 °C
Nitinol is a nickel-titanium shape memory alloy that undergoes a reversible phase transformation depending on temperature. When cooled from its high-temperature austenite phase to the low-temperature martensite phase, it can be deformed, and upon reheating above its activation temperature, it returns to its original shape.
Applications
-
Thermal and Electrical Actuators: Used as sensors or actuators in thermal valves for fluidics and autofocus mechanisms in cameras.
-
Biomedical Devices: Biocompatible for orthopedic implants, catheters, orthodontic brackets and wires, and neurovascular interventions like stroke thrombolysis.
-
Stents: Collapsible for insertion into arteries or veins; expands at body temperature to restore blood flow.
-
Structural Engineering: Superelastic Nitinol wires in concrete detect and indicate cracks in bridges and buildings.
This sheet’s activation temperature makes it suitable for medium-temperature actuation applications, biomedical devices, and structural monitoring systems.
