Applications
Scandium is a transition metal that oxidizes in air, producing a yellow or pinkish tint. It is present in over 800 mineral species and occurs in higher concentrations in minerals such as euxenite, gadolinite, and thortveitite. Scandium is primarily used in aluminum–scandium alloys, where its light weight makes it suitable for minor aerospace components.
