Aluminum Oxide (Al2O3) Micron Powder
Alpha, Purity: 99.9%, Size: 20 µm
Alumina is one of the most cost-effective and widely used materials in engineering ceramics. The raw materials from which this ceramic is produced are readily available and reasonably priced, resulting in excellent value for manufactured alumina components. With a strong combination of properties and attractive cost-performance, fine-grain technical-grade alumina serves a broad range of applications. Al2O3 is hard, wear-resistant, and maintains exceptional dielectric performance from DC to GHz frequencies. It offers high resistance to strong acids and alkalis at elevated temperatures, has good thermal conductivity, and supports precise dimensional and shape capabilities. Al2O3 is also characterized by high strength and stiffness. Purity levels range from 94% for easily metallizable grades to 99.8% for the most demanding high-temperature applications.
Aluminum oxide, commonly called alumina, possesses strong ionic interatomic bonding, which contributes to its desirable material characteristics. Al2O3 can exist in several crystalline phases, all of which revert to the stable hexagonal alpha phase at high temperatures. This phase is particularly important for structural applications.
Alpha-phase alumina is the strongest and stiffest among oxide ceramics. Its hardness, excellent dielectric properties, refractoriness, and strong thermal characteristics make it the preferred material for a wide range of uses. High-purity alumina can be used in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres up to 1925°C.
